COLUMBIA PIKE CHARRETTE

Coming Soon: Columbia Pike Charrette... June 24 - June 30

As Columbia Pike is transformed into a more walkable "Main Street," with more transit options and shops, the County is committed to embracing, preserving and enhancing its economic and cultural diversity. Help us explore ways to ensure that happens at a series of public meetings from June 24 – June 30.

A 7-day open design studio, or charrette, will be held as part of the Columbia Pike Land Use and Housing Study. In three sessions, to be held at the Sheraton National Hotel, 900 S. Orme St., design professionals will work with Columbia Pike residents and other stakeholders listening and drawing ideas on maps.

  • Fri. June 24, 7-9:30 p.m.: Kick Off Presentation
  • Sat. June 25, 9 a.m.-2 p.m: Hands-on working session with breakout groups
  • Thurs. June 30, 7-9:30 p.m.: Work In Progress Presentation

Please RSVP by June 13 for each event to columbiapikeplanning@arlingtonva.us to confirm which of the above events you plan to attend.

Can't make it? Drop by the design studio during the week to view the drawings and chat with the designers, located in the newly constructed Penrose Square project(see times noted below). For updates and more details, visit www.pikeneighborhoodsplan.com.

The Study will culminate with a new component of the Columbia Pike Initiative Plan - the Columbia Pike Neighborhoods Plan - which will steer public and private investment decisions to match community goals. These goals call for enhancing the quality of life along the corridor, creating a walking and bicycle friendly community, supporting the planned streetcar investment coming to the Pike, and sustaining a housing supply that serves a diverse population.
