Exerpt from an email from Pamela Holcomb, Managing Director Columbia Pike Revitalization Organization (CPRO) to:
For those interested, here is a bit more information re: the construction
underway at the corner of Columbia Pike and S. Quinn Streets. The work
going on at this location is a part of what is called the "Gravity 3 Water
Main" project that is being undertaken by the County's Water Sewer & Streets
Division. It involves the installation of a new 20" water main originating
from the north side of the County, down Washington Blvd., crossing Columbia
Pike and heading south across the golf course, etc. As already noted, the
work involves some lane closures in order to contain the work area and
provide optimum safety for traffic and pedestrians. The lane closures will
be both the Southbound lane from Quinn St. to 10th St. and Columbia Pike
(headed East) from S. Rolfe to S. Quinn. We do not have information on the
exact length of time these lane closures will be in effect but have been
informed that construction work in this particular area is supposed to
extend to the month of October. We will report on the status of the project
in our September CPRO e-newsletter.
